Tso Moriri Lake Jeep Safari
Tso Moririi Lake is 137 km away from Leh. Our Jeep Safari drives by a fine road along right bank upstream of River Indus covering famous monasteries and villages till it reaches Chumathang in six hours. Remaining 22 km. distance is covered by driving along a rough and dusty track running through the remote countryside inhabited by nomad settlements each consisting of two-three tents here and there. It takes two hours to reach a beautiful lake Thazang. After half an hour further drive from this lake, we reach Tso Moririi Lake.
Tso Moririi is a mountain lake located in the middle of the elevated district of Rupsu. This lake is surrounded by hill peaks over 20,000 feet high. A kilometer ahead of this legendary river, there is a picturesque village of Korzok inhabited by around a hundred families. There is a hilltop Gompa belonging to the Gelugpa Buddhist sect with around 35 resident monks.
